A redesigned MLB logo with this Philly twist brings back all the 2008 feels

The logo for MLB has been around for decades and is one of the most iconic symbols in sports.

We decided to put our own spin on the logo, to personalize it just for the city of Philadelphia. Here’s what we came up with:

Chase Utley, you are the man

The nickname dates back to Aug. 9, 2006, thanks to the infamous Harry Kalas call. No one knew it then, but Utley would carry this name with him for the remainder of his career.

He especially lived up to his nickname in the 2008 season — in the midst of his five consecutive All-Star appearances, a career high 33 homers and just one RBI shy of tying his career-best.

All of his feats of his time as a Phillie has landed him one of our two redesigns.

Lights out Lidge

One of the most important aspects to the 2008 championship season was the closer, Brad Lidge himself — who was perfect the entire season.

It’s rare to use the word “perfect” in sports, but that’s what he was. He successfully closed out all 41 games he was brought in for during the regular season and continued his streak into the postseason — his last save, No. 48 — being the one of the greatest moments in Philly sports.

Prepare for all of the feels in 3 … 2 … 1 …

This moment lands Lidge as the second logo redesign with a Phillies twist.

A moment worthy of the logo.
