Andrew McCutchen vs. Uncle Larry — the home run derby no one knew they needed

Share

Alright, who currently wears the social media crown for MLB athletes? This is a public service announcement to officially pass it on to the Phillies’ Andrew McCutchen.

He took a small (well, actually — a rather large) typo of his name on Twitter and turned it into something no one knew they needed — a mini-series that revolves around himself and his Uncle Larry.

Over the course of the past few weeks, we’ve all learned many things about Uncle Larry. He is:

-Always up for a challenge
-Three steps ahead in every situation
-A comedic genius
-Ridiculously fast (Superhuman-like)

In the latest installment of the series, Cutch comes up with a pretty epic idea — and one that he’s sure to win with — a home run derby.

Remember, Uncle Larry never backs down from a challenge. So, off to the ballpark they went. The rules were simple — both of them had only three chances to prove which one was superior.

McCutchen went first and to be honest, the sound of the ball making contact with the bat perfectly, is music to anyone’s ears who desperately misses baseball.

Following suit was his uncle. Even with quite the unusual batting stance and swing, he somehow managed to go yard and hit three bombs.

We’re not sure what’s better — McCutchen’s reactions from the dugout or Uncle Larry’s dance celebration after he won it all.

It’s also safe to say, “I’m no scratch and sniff, you don’t try me,” is the best line to come out of this whole video.

Fans continue to show their love for the Uncle Larry content, so fingers crossed this series continues until baseball can start back up again … and even once the league is back in full swing, who wouldn’t want to keep seeing this A+ content once in a while?
