In his first rehab game with Single A Lakewood, Domonic Brown made it look as if he's ready to return to the major leagues.
The Phillies' All-Star leftfielder, out since July 23 with concussion symptoms, went 3 for 5 with a homer in the Blueclaws' 8-4 loss to the Hagerstown Suns on Monday in Hagerstown, Md.
"Felt pretty good, no symptoms," Brown said after the game, via the Lakewood Blueclaws' podcast. "Felt pretty good in the box, really just trying to see some good pitches up. I had some pretty good swings."
Batting third in the order, Brown singled to left field on a 2-2 pitch, knocking in a run as part of a three-run Lakewood first inning.
In his next at-bat, Brown homered to right field on a 2-0 pitch.
"I was just looking for something to drive in the hitter's count," he said. "Got a good pitch to hit and dropped the head on it."
He picked up an infield single his third time up before grounding out to second in his fourth at-bat. He also made the final out of the game -- another ground out -- with two outs and the bases loaded in the ninth.
Brown is scheduled to play with Double A Reading on Tuesday, when they play the Senators in Harrisburg, Pa.
"They're telling me to play tomorrow's game, play nine and then back to Philly the next day," he said. "If everything works tomorrow, I should be in the lineup on Wednesday."
Despite his absence, Brown still leads the Phillies in homers (24), RBIs (69), runs (51) and slugging percentage (.531). The Phillies have gone 1-10 since he last played.
