Mike Schmidt will be doubling his workload on Phillies telecasts this season by adding Saturday home games to his schedule as well as Sunday homes games, Comcast SportsNet announced, Wednesday.
The Hall-of-Fame third baseman will broadcast 26 games this season, up from 13 games last season. Schmidt will join Tom McCarthy, Matt Stairs, Ben Davis and Gregg Murphy for “Weekends with Schmidt.”
“I'm very excited to have added Saturday's to my Phillies broadcast schedule this year,” Schmidt said in a statement. “Working with my new broadcast partner Ben Davis, and again with Matt, Murph, and Tom will be a blast. I can’t wait to bring my six-week spring training experiences with all the players to life in the booth.”
Schmidt joins the broadcast team for the game against the Washington Nationals on April 11 and will work the April 12 game as well.
Comcast SportsNet will air 142 regular-season games in 2015 with the Comcast Network picking up seven games and NBC10 taking on 12 games.
The broadcast schedule begins on April 6 when the Phillies open the season at home against the Red Sox at 3 p.m.
