WASHINGTON -- The Washington Nationals have traded reliever Drew Storen to the AL East champion Toronto Blue Jays for outfielder Ben Revere.

The teams announced the deal Friday night.

The 28-year-old Storen had sought a trade, having lost his closer role in late July when the Nationals acquired Jonathan Papelbon from Philadelphia. Storen was shifted to an eighth-inning role following that trade and struggled.

The 27-year-old Revere figures to take over the center field and leadoff job that Denard Span held. Span joined San Francisco this week as a free agent (see full story).

Cardinals: Former exec pleads guilty to hacking Astros' database
HOUSTON -- The former scouting director of the St. Louis Cardinals has pleaded guilty in federal court to hacking the Houston Astros' player personnel database.

Christopher Correa pleaded guilty Friday to five counts of unauthorized access of a protected computer, access authorities said dated back several years. The 35-year-old Correa was the Cardinals' director of baseball development until he was fired last summer.

Cardinals Chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. had blamed the alleged hack on "roguish behavior" by a handful of individuals. No one else was charged.

The data breach was first reported in June 2014 when Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow told reporters the team had been the victim of hackers who accessed servers and published online months of internal trade talks. Luhnow is a former employee with the Cardinals (see full story).

Nationals: Former Marlins GM, manager Jennings joins front office
WASHINGTON -- The Nationals have hired former Marlins manager and general manager Dan Jennings as a special assistant to GM Mike Rizzo.

The Nationals announced the move Friday.

Jennings will work on Washington's scouting operations.

He was fired in October by the Marlins, a team he had worked for since 2002.

Jennings had been Miami's general manager, then took over as skipper in May, the first big league manager with no experience in that job or as a player in the majors since Braves owner Ted Turner managed his team for one game in 1977.

Before working for the Marlins, Jennings was Tampa Bay's director of scouting.
