A first look at 2021 MLB MVP odds

Next season's MLB MVP odds were released Friday morning by PointsBet and Bryce Harper is +1200, the ninth-shortest odds in the National League.

This year, 22 players received a vote for National League MVP and none were Phillies.

Mookie Betts has the shortest odds at +500, logical placement given his well-rounded skill set and successful team.

He's followed by Christian Yelich at +700, Ronald Acuña Jr. at +750, Cody Bellinger and Freddie Freeman at +800, Fernando Tatis Jr., Juan Soto and Nolan Arenado at +1000 and Harper at +1200.

Value can be had with Soto, who is going to win an MVP one of these years. Soto hit .351/.490/.695 in 2020, leading the NL in batting average and leading the majors in OBP, slugging and OPS.

Rhys Hoskins is the only other Phillie with odds at +3000, the same as Manny Machado and Marcell Ozuna.

In the American League, Mike Trout is the heavy favorite at +175, followed by Alex Bregman and Jose Abreu at +1000. Trout won AL MVP in 2014, 2016 and 2019. He's been the runner-up four times.

Abreu and Freeman won the awards for their offensive prowess in the shortened 2020 season. Abreu had not placed higher than 14th in MVP voting since his rookie season. Freeman had never finished higher than fourth. Well-deserved honors for two of the game's most respected veteran sluggers.
