While the Phillies are expected to have a lengthy search for their new head of baseball operations that could extend well into the 2021 season, two other teams have filled their general manager vacancies this week and one made history.
The Miami Marlins on Friday announced the hiring of Kim Ng, the first female and first Asian-American to serve as the GM for any men's team in one of the major North American sports.
Ng has worked in the front offices of the White Sox, Yankees and Dodgers as well as the league office. In 1998 at 29 years old, she became the youngest assistant GM in the majors with the Yankees. In 2001, she left to become a vice president and assistant GM with the Dodgers and was there 10 years, before joining the league office as the senior VP of baseball operations for MLB.

Ng, 51, had previously interviewed for the GM jobs in Seattle, San Diego, Anaheim and San Francisco.
In Miami's front office, she replaces Michael Hill, who had been there 19 seasons.
The Angels filled their GM job earlier this week by hiring former Braves assistant GM Perry Minasian to a four-year contract.
