Oklahoma native Archie Bradley asked about Lincoln Riley and the Eagles

The Eagles probably won’t be luring head coach Lincoln Riley away from the University of Oklahoma, and that’s fine by Archie Bradley.

The Phillies’ new late-inning reliever is from Oklahoma and originally committed to playing baseball and football for the Sooners before the Arizona Diamondbacks drafted him seventh overall in 2011 and convinced him otherwise with $5 million.

Bradley, signed by the Phillies late last week, is a huge OU fan and was asked Monday how he’d feel if the Eagles hired Riley, who’s 45-8 and 30-5 in the Big 12 in his four years at the helm:

“That would be a tough one. Having Lincoln leave Oklahoma would be a tough loss. He’s put together a hell of a resume there and we’re very happy to have him. That being said, if he’s right across the street, that’d be an easy transition for me. We’ve already got two great guys over there in Carson (Wentz) and Jalen (Hurts). But if you bring in Lincoln, that’s a deadly combination right there.”

The Eagles reportedly had interest in Riley and even made a phone call the very same day Doug Pederson was fired, but it remains very unlikely Riley will choose to make the jump to the NFL now. While the Eagles might want him, the job isn’t overly attractive and Riley has a good situation in Norman.
