Andrew Painter is going to the Shore.
The Phillies have promoted the 19-year-old pitching prospect to their High A Jersey Shore club after a couple of dominant months at Low A Clearwater.
Painter will make his first start for the BlueClaws on Sunday. The team is on the road all week at Hudson Valley.

SIGN UP HERE Painter, a 6-7 right-hander, was the Phillies’ first-round draft pick in 2021. At Jersey Shore, he will join 6-5 right-hander Mick Abel, the team’s first-round pick from 2020.
The Jersey Shore starting staff also includes highly regarded power-armed right-handers Griff McGarry and Ben Brown.
Brown, 22, was the pitcher of the month for May in the Phillies’ farm system. In four starts, he allowed just eight hits and two runs over 18 1/3 innings. He struck out 30 and walked just seven.
Painter has been nothing short of dominant since launching his pro career last summer. In 44 2/3 innings in the low minors, he has given up just 21 hits while striking out 81 of the 170 batters he’s faced.

Taking a regular turn in Clearwater’s rotation this season, Painter gave up 17 hits and six earned runs in 38 2/3 innings. He struck out 69 and walked 16.
Painter finished his time at Clearwater with consecutive outings of six innings in which he allowed a total of six hits and two earned runs while striking out 16 and walking two.
