"The Future" pitches for the Phillies Friday afternoon.
Aaron Nola will make a cameo start against the Yankees in a Grapefruit League game. He's not in the running for the opening day roster. He'll start the year in the minors.
That much we know. He's the team's top pitching prospect, a position current ace Cole Hamels is familiar with.
Hamels said Thursday he'll be atop the dugout keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old (see story). Back in 2004, Hamels was in Nola's shoes.
Over the years, Hamels has developed into one of the top left-handers in baseball. Nola, a right-hander, has a ways to go on that front.
He still has to get through the minor-league system.
But who exactly is Aaron Nola?
