Matt Klentak will be introduced as the Phillies' new general manager in an 11 a.m. press conference on Monday.
Sources confirmed to CSNPhilly.com Phillies Insider Jim Salisbury on Saturday that Klentak has been hired as the new GM (see story).
The team did not confirm Klentak as the hire, however, saying only that the press conference is regarding the new general manger
The 35-year-old replaces Ruben Amaro Jr., who was let go on Sept. 10. Amaro had been the Phillies' GM since October 2008.
Klentak is the first hiring of the Andy MacPhail era. MacPhail joined the Phillies' organization in late June and, as planned, took over the club's presidency from Pat Gillick earlier this month.
Klentak spent the last four seasons as an assistant general manager with the Los Angeles Angels. He previously worked under MacPhail when MacPhail was president of baseball operations with the Baltimore Orioles.
The Phillies begin their annual organization meetings on Monday night at the team's facility in Clearwater, Florida.
