Chase Utley is not in the Phillies' starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the San Diego Padres.
The second baseman has been given the afternoon off to rest, as expected. He's gone 3 for 9 at the plate with two doubles and two runs scored since coming off the disabled list with an ankle injury.
With Utley on the bench, Cesar Hernandez will slide back over to second and hit leadoff for the Phils, who are going for a three-game sweep of the Padres.
Hernandez, who played shortstop and batted second Saturday, is hitting .285 with one home run and 25 RBIs in 96 games this season. He's also swiped 17 bags.
Elsewhere in the lineup, Freddy Galvis will return to his usual spot at shortstop, Carlos Ruiz will replace Cameron Rupp behind the plate and Jeff Francoeur will take over for Dom Brown in right field.
Jerome Williams toes the rubber. The veteran right-hander is 3-8 with a 6.09 ERA and has struggled mightily on the road. He's 0-6 with an 8.02 ERA in nine starts away from Citizens Bank Park this season.
Williams will be opposed by San Diego right-hander Andrew Cashner (4-11, 4.08 ERA). In his career against the Phils, he's won two starts and boasts a 1.25 ERA in eight total appearances.
