Another look at Mudiay's inconceivable buzzer-beater

The Sixers led by a point with 3.1 seconds to play in Denver Wednesday night and had possession. Robert Covington, an 80 percent free-throw shooter, was headed to the line for two foul shots. At that point, the Sixers were 13 for 13 from the line for the night.

Covington's first free throw circled around the rim but didn't go in. He had a chance to miss the second intentionally, which would have made a game-winning shot significantly harder for the Nuggets with under three seconds to play, but he sank it to give the Sixers a two-point lead.

That set up the shot from Emmanuel Mudiay you can find above. Truly one of the most improbable buzzer-beaters in recent memory. The degree of difficulty might make it the shot of the year. It wasn't more important than Steph Curry's long three against the Thunder a few weeks ago, but it was definitely more contested.

"Just get it up," Mudiay said of his what he was thinking before the shot. "Before that, I was thinking of March Madness because anything can happen."

Have a look for yourself if you haven't already seen it. If you have, just bask in the pain and the absurdity.
