Embiid won the Community Assist Award for March. He donated $100,000 that month to Youth Services Inc., Project HOME and Sunday Breakfast Mission, three Philadelphia-based organizations that combat homelessness.
Other community service highlights for Embiid this year include pledging $500,000 to the “First Responders First” campaign, providing PPE to frontline healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Embiid, Sixers managing partner Josh Harris and Sixers co-managing partner David Blitzer donated $1.3 million to Penn Medicine to develop COVID-19 antibody testing for frontline workers.
Last December, he gave five Philadelphia families groceries, gifts and relief on mortgage or rent payments for the next year.
Voting will begin Tuesday at noon ET and run through June 19. The winner will be selected by fans and an NBA executive panel and announced during the playoffs.
