Joel Embiid is rewriting Sixers franchise history, one milestone at a time.
Wednesday, the 76ers big man was named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for January, the second straight month he was given the honor. He’s the first 76ers player in history to win Player of the Month in consecutive months.
Embiid led the team to a 13-3 mark in January, leading the NBA with 34.0 ppg. He added 10.8 rebounds per game, making him just the fifth player in the last 40 seasons to notch 34 ppg and 10 rpg in a calendar month:

Nets guard James Harden was the last NBA player to win the award in back-to-back months, doing so in February and March of last year.
This is Embiid’s fourth career Player of the Month award, tying Allen Iverson for the month in team history.
With two-and-a-half months left to play, he’s on track to join Iverson among Sixers to win an NBA MVP trophy.
