It has been over two months since the Sixers released Tony Wroten. With six weeks left in the regular season, he is expected to sign with the Knicks, according to Yahoo! Sports.
ESPN.com reported the deal will be finalized later this week and will be for two years at the veteran's minimum.
Wroten has played three of his four NBA seasons in Philadelphia. The Grizzlies drafted him 25th overall in 2012 and traded him to the Sixers the following year.
Wroten suffered a partially torn right ACL in early January 2015. He had been the team's leading scorer that season with a career-high 16.9 points and 5.2 assists per game.
He returned in December and played just eight games for the Sixers before they released him on Dec. 24, coinciding with the acquisition of Ish Smith from the Pelicans.
Wroten struggled coming back from the injury this season. He averaged 8.4 points and 2.5 assists with 3.6 turnovers per game. Wroten was also shooting only 33.8 percent from the field and 17.6 percent from three-point range before the team parted ways with the guard.
