Robert Covington is feeling soreness-free as he continues to follow the NBA concussion protocol.
On Friday, he spent over an hour in a hyperbaric chamber. Before the Sixers game against the Thunder, Covington went through light spot-up shooting, his first shooting routine since the injury.
"The soreness has gone away," Covington said. "I’m feeling pretty good. I haven’t had any symptoms today, no headache or anything.”
Covington was kicked in the head and neck area by Jerami Grant last Friday against the Nets. He was carted off the court on a stretcher and taken to Jefferson Hospital for a precautionary stay.
Covington hopes to return by Wednesday's game against the Nuggets in Denver. In the meantime, he is watching games from the Sixers' bench.
While Covington has been able to lift weights, the absence of on-court action has led to a change in his body.
“Actually, since I’ve been out I’ve put on almost nine pounds,” he said. “I’ve been eating like I normally eat, it’s just I’m not burning it off right now. I’m 225 right now.”

Grant, who also suffered concussion in the collision, returned Thursday against the Wizards.
"I’m just glad that we’re both back healthy and it wasn’t too serious," Covington said.
