The Sixers (14-49) will continue their homestand after a brief break in the schedule against the Chicago Bulls (39-26) on Wednesday at the Wells Fargo Center (7 p.m./CSN).
Let's take a closer look at the matchup:
1. Walking wounded
The Sixers have been off from game action since Saturday, giving the group a chance to heal some nagging injuries. And an opportunity to soak up the team's latest win.
The Sixers rallied for a 92-84 win on Friday night over the Eastern Conference-best Atlanta Hawks, who rested three of their starters.
Some of the Bulls' key players are getting an extended rest of their own, mainly because of injuries. Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson are all sidelined for Chicago at the moment.
That's a big reason the Bulls have dropped three games in a row, the latest being a 101-91 defeat at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday.
2. Think big
All of those injuries don't mean the Bulls still don't have a formidable attack, mainly in the frontcourt.
NBA
Power forward Pau Gasol and center Joakim Noah have been anchors for the Bulls. The duo has combined to average 25.8 points, 22.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 3.2 blocks per game.
While Nerlens Noel has been a force in March with 11.2 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 2.0 blocks per game, he'll still need plenty of help to combat the Bulls' frontline.
3. Three is the key
The Sixers' overall mentality has changed during the second half of the season. While they still want to stop people on defense, it is clear that their new players are offensive-minded above everything else.
That focus on offense seems to be partial to the three-point line. The Sixers aren't shy about letting it fly either, ranking 11th in the NBA in attempts (25.0 per game) and 13th in makes (8.0 per game).
The Sixers have made double-digit threes in 7 of 10 games since the All-Star break, including Saturday's win over the Hawks. They will need to continue that type of shooting from deep if they want to have a chance against the Bulls.
4. Injuries
Rose (knee) is out 4-6 weeks after surgery for a torn meniscus.
Butler (elbow) is out a couple of more weeks, while Gibson (ankle) has no timetable for a return.
Isaiah Canaan (illness) is expected to play against the Bulls.
Jason Richardson (rest) sat out Saturday in the second game of a back-to-back set, but he should be in the lineup on Wednesday.
Joel Embiid (foot) is experiencing soreness in his surgically repaired right foot and had a checkup with his doctor in Los Angeles on Tuesday (see story).
Tony Wroten (knee) remains out indefinitely.
5. This and that
• The Sixers have lost nine of their last 11 games against the Bulls.
• The Bulls have lost six of their last eight on the road after starting the season 17-6 away from home.
• Noah has averaged 9.3 points and 10.6 rebounds against the Sixers during his career.
• Luc Mbah a Moute had a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards in the season's first meeting between the two teams.
• Mike Dunleavy scored a season-high 27 points in the Bulls' 118-115 win over the Sixers back on Nov. 7.
