PORTLAND, Ore. — The Sixers are without the services of Nerlens Noel on Saturday and Sunday because of a right knee contusion.
That is three straight games Noel has missed because of the injury. He sat out Wednesday against the Nuggets after suffering the injury Sunday against the Celtics and playing the next night against the Pacers.
“Hopefully I’ll be able to go on Tuesday," Noel said of the Sixers' upcoming game against the Hornets. "I don’t even know how it’s feeling this way. But It’s gotten better in the past few days, but not as much as I thought.”
The Sixers on Saturday morning were unsure of Noel's status after shootaround before their game against the Blazers. On Saturday evening, Noel said he had felt discomfort during shootaround.
Noel missed two games with a bruised right knee earlier this month, but said this injury is more painful. He described his knee as feeling achy and sore, and said he is looking forward to getting back on the court.
"I’m a competitor," he said. "If I can play, I’m going to play."
Now they know he won't play Sunday against the Warriors in Golden State, either.
