Sixers' Joel Embiid will sign sneaker deal with Under Armour, per report

The biggest sneaker free agent in the NBA – figuratively and literally – has reportedly found a new sneaker home.

Sixers star big man Joel Embiid will sign with Under Armour, according to Yahoo! Sports. He’ll join two-time MVP Stephen Curry, who spurned Nike for UA after a weak sales pitch. Tom Brady, Cam Newton and Olympic gold medal skier Lindsey Vonn also have deals with UA.

It’s an interesting choice for Embiid, whose game and larger-than-life personality likely made him very appealing.  He also has an incredible social media presence and reach with over 1.5 million followers on Twitter and almost 3 million followers on Instagram.

Embiid has already been spotted wearing the brand, most recently during the Sixers’ preseason games in China and also during the team’s media day.

A couple weeks ago, Embiid expressed his desire to have his own signature sneaker.
