The Sixers (15-52) take on the Detroit Pistons (24-43) at the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday night (7 p.m./CSN).
Let's take a closer look at the matchup:
1. Breaking bad
Things haven't gone the Sixers' way this season, especially on the road.
The Sixers suffered a 108-89 loss to the Celtics in Boston on Monday, marking their 14th consecutive road defeat. The Sixers haven't won away from home since a 90-88 victory over the Brooklyn Nets back on Jan. 9.
They'll get back to the Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday to face a Pistons team that had been working on its own skid.
The Pistons had lost 10 in a row before rallying for a 105-95 win over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night. Detroit still brings a seven-game road losing streak into Philadelphia for Wednesday's tilt.
2. Action Jackson
Reggie Jackson wanted to start for the Oklahoma City Thunder. That wasn't going to happen as long as Russell Westbrook was around and putting together triple-doubles like the league has rarely seen before.
NBA
So Jackson was shipped to the Pistons and now has his own team to run. While team success has been difficult to come by (Detroit is just 3-10 since Jackson was acquired), it's hardly the point guard's fault.
Jackson has averaged 15.0 points, 7.7 assists and 4.0 rebounds a night since joining the Pistons. He's also coming off his best game with the club with 23 points and a career-high 20 assists in the Pistons' win over the Grizzlies.
If the Sixers continue to have issues with their leaky defense, Jackson will torture them all game long.
3. Board meeting
As with any time facing the Pistons, the game begins and ends with rebounding.
Detroit is fourth in the NBA in rebounding with 45.3 boards a night. The Pistons are particularly potent on the offensive glass, grabbing a league-best 13.1 offensive rebounds per game.
The Pistons don't just gobble up offensive rebounds. They also convert them into baskets. The Pistons average an NBA-best 15.1 second-chance points a game.
With a minus-3.2 rebounding differential this season, the Sixers will need everyone to crash the boards on Wednesday to keep the Pistons from feasting all night.
4. Injuries
Greg Monroe (knee) sat out Tuesday's game but is expected to face the Sixers.
Quincy Miller (ankle) is day to day.
Brandon Jennings (Achilles) is out indefinitely.
Joel Embiid (foot) and Tony Wroten (knee) are out indefinitely for the Sixers.
5. This and that
• The Sixers have won two of their three matchups against the Pistons this season.
• Monroe and Andre Drummond have combined to average 25.9 points and 21.3 rebounds against the Sixers during their careers.
• Nerlens Noel is averaging 12.8 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 1.8 blocks per game in March.
