Sixers to hold Blue-White scrimmage Oct. 8 in Wilmington

The Sixers' annual Blue-White scrimmage is set for Oct. 8 at 12 p.m. ET this year, the team announced Wednesday morning.

The free event will take place in Wilmington, Delaware at Chase Fieldhouse, which hosts the Sixers' G League affiliate team, the Delaware Blue Coats.

According to the Sixers' press release, a limited number of tickets will be available to the general public starting at 3 p.m. on Thursday through a "special link and promo code sent to SixthMan Newsletter subscribers."

"Beginning at 10:45 a.m., early door entry and Fan Fest will be open for all ticketed guests before the Chase Fieldhouse doors open at 11:15 a.m.," per the release.

The Sixers in years past have live streamed the Blue-White scrimmage on their social media channels.

The team scrapped the public intra-squad scrimmage ahead of the 2020-21 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic but returned to Wilmington last year. Matisse Thybulle was a Blue-White scrimmage standout his rookie season, seemingly registering a block, steal or deflection on every defensive possession.

Now entering his fourth season, he'll be among the players whose preseason performances are worth following. Thybulle said at Sixers media day Monday that he worked to streamline his jump shot this summer, "getting rid of wasted movement, which allows for more accuracy and consistency.”

"It’s just a matter of seeing where the cards fall, seeing how it all plays out now," he said. "I’ve made the progress, I’ve put in the work, I’ve got up the reps, and now it’s a matter of seeing how it manifests throughout the season. I’ll go in with the intention of making every single one and will most definitely be disappointed in that, but making sure that I see growth (from) where I was last year is all that really matters.”

The Sixers opened training camp Tuesday in Charleston, South Carolina, and will start their regular season with an Oct. 18 matchup against the Celtics in Boston. The Blue-White scrimmage falls in the middle of the team's four-game preseason schedule, which begins on Oct. 3 in Brooklyn.
