The Sixers had clear deficiencies in second-unit scoring and outside shooting heading into Thursday afternoon’s trade deadline. General manager Elton Brand looked to bolster the team in both those areas early Thursday morning.
The team is acquiring Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III from the Golden State Warriors, a team source confirmed to NBC Sports Philadelphia. Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium first reported the news. Per a team source, the Sixers are sending the Warriors Dallas’ 2020 second-round pick, Denver’s 2021 second-round pick and Toronto’s 2022 second-rounder.
Burks is a 28-year-old wing averaging 16.6 points and 4.7 rebounds this season, shooting 37.5 percent from three-point range. He can score at all three levels, and the Sixers will hope he can give them an offensive boost. The team is currently 28th in bench scoring.

Robinson III was briefly a Sixer, playing 10 games with the team as a 21-year-old rookie in 2015. Five years later, he returns in the midst of the most productive season of his career. The 6-foot-6 wing has posted 12.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, and he’s shooting 40 percent from three. His father, Glenn “Big Dog” Robinson, was a perennial 20 point per game scorer in his prime and was a Sixer for the 2003-04 season.
Both players are on one-year, veteran minimum contracts. They project to slot in right away to the Sixers’ rotation.
Since the Sixers are adding two players in this trade and not giving up any, the team will need to clear two roster spots.
