With an NBA-high five picks, the Sixers will have plenty of chances to make deals in next Wednesday’s draft.
Moving up from the 21st pick sounds like one option that could be on the table.
ESPN’s Jonathan Givony reported Monday that “picks belonging to the Sacramento Kings (No. 12), Boston Celtics (No. 14), Wolves (No. 17), Dallas Mavericks (No. 18), Brooklyn Nets (No. 19) and Miami Heat (No. 20) are the most prevalent in trade conversations lately.”

With four second-round selections, including No. 34 and No. 36, one figures the Sixers might consider trying to slide up a few spots. Especially if there’s a player who they’re enamored with that may not be available at No. 21 — someone like Tyrell Terry or Desmond Bane — that could be a sensible move.
Of course, the slew of teams Givony reports as discussing potential trades won’t all want the same things. Some will have interest in specific players, some will be pushing for a top-10 selection and others will just be doing their due diligence to explore possibilities.
New Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey hasn’t made a first-round pick since 2015. It would not be stunning if the Sixers used their first-rounder as part of a deal for a player or players instead of a prospect.
Morey emphasized that he doesn’t intend to rush into moves at his introductory press conference, but the draft always presents dealmaking opportunities and his history suggests he’ll look into whatever might be out there.
