Watch: Kobe Bryant's high school point guard tries out for Sixers' color analyst position

Most people who read The700Level.com coming from Facebook just think of The Evster as some dopey idiot. And they're mostly right.

But our Friday columnist and frequent correspondent to The700Level Show also has a rather impressive hoops pedigree. You may not know this about him, but his given name on his birth certificate is Kobe Bryant's High School Point Guard.

It's true. Evster was a dime machine at Lower Merion because of course he was. All he had to do was pass the ball to a guy named Kobe. The dynamic Kobe-Evster duo took the Aces all the way to the District finals in 1995 where they lost to Chester. Then to the second round (sweet sixteen) of states. Finally, once Ev somehow graduated, Kobe won the Pennsylvania State Championship without him.

Since then, Evster has gone on to write famous blog posts and make hit television segments about selling ice cream while Kobe simply went on to win a few NBA Championships.

Well, Friend of the Level and longtime Sixers play-by-play man Marc Zumoff was kind enough to give Evster a tryout for the team's previously vacant color analyst position. He didn't get the job because of course he didn't. But his tryout -- which included some calls of his legendary 17-dime performance against Norristown back in nine five -- was recorded for all of us to enjoy.

One last thing. Ev's other claim to fame: he once tootsie roll'd with Shaya Bryant (Kobe's sister) at the Lower Merion homecoming dance while her 6'7" boyfriend stood over him. Ev would later name it the fourth greatest moment of his life, ranked closely behind the time he hung out with the Jamaican squad at the Penn Relays but just ahead of the day he married his wife.

You can catch The700Level Show every Thursday at 5:30 and 10:30 p.m. on the Comcast Network. You can also stream this week's entire episode featuring the Sixers heading Back to the Future right here. We also made a man drink an entire pitcher of Shirley Temples which is considered cruel and unusual in all 50 states.
