It hasn't been a great 24-hour stretch for Villanova basketball.

On Sunday afternoon, the Wildcats saw their 22-game Big East win streak snapped with a tough 82-76 overtime loss to Providence (see story).

On Monday afternoon, they found out they fell two spots in the latest AP Poll.

Jay Wright's club, 17-3 on the season, fell two spots from No. 4 to No. 6 in the rankings.

Villanova is one of three Big East teams in this week's top 10. Xavier, which Villanova beat in earlier this month, checked in at No. 7 while Providence moved up six spots to No. 10 following Sunday's win at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Wildcats, 7-1 in Big East play, still hold a two-game lead over four teams for first place in the conference.

They return to the court Sunday afternoon in against St. John's at Madison Square Garden.

Oklahoma remains the No. 1 team in the nation and is followed by North Carolina, Iowa, Kansas and Texas A&M in the rankings.
