A season-ending injury didn't stop Drexel's Damion Lee from receiving his due recognition.
Despite fracturing his hand in a Feb. 21 game against Northeastern, the junior guard was named first team all-CAA on Thursday night.
Joining Lee on the first team were Northeastern senior forward Scott Eatherton, Hofstra junior guard Juan’ya Green, UNCW senior guard Addison Spruill and William and Mary senior guard Marcus Thornton, who was named Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year.
Lee turned in one of the all-time great seasons in Dragons history. He averaged 21.4 points -- fifth-best in the nation -- and topped the 30 point barrier five times.
He also ranked among the CAA leaders in rebounds (6.1, sixth) and steals (1.5, fourth).
Lee put up those numbers after coming back from an ACL tear he suffered last season.
Drexel finished the season with an 11-18 record overall (9-9 in the CAA). That was good enough for a No. 7 seed in the conference tournament, as the Dragons will face 10th-seeded College of Charleston on Friday night.
