Griffey to Sit Tonight at 599

As you surely know by now, Ken Griffey Jr. brings 599 home runs to Citizens Bank Park. With a four game series set to kick off tonight, the chance of witnessing a historic feat is quite high this week. However, Griffey isn't in the starting line up for the the Reds this evening but could make a pinch hit appearance. I've mentioned my mancrush on Junior here in the past and he'll always be one of my favorite players to never don a Philly jersey.

I was at the game on 6/14/04 when Griffey and the Reds came to town with Junior sitting at 499 and a chance to hit his 500th HR in South Philly. As some of you may vaguely recall, Griffey didn't even play in that game either. But Jim Thome did smack number 400. It was a rainy gloomy day with a few drunken fans having some fun on the tarped field during the rain delay. The wings at Harry the K's were tasty. (My dad treated)

The Phils will run out their standard line up with Coste calling the game for Kyle Kendrick.

With Junior as the main attraction this week, it could be the young, up-and-comer Jay Bruce who could hurt the Phillies more. The weather forecasts look favorable. Get down to fill the ball park and maybe watch history.
