As the final few hours of the NBA trade deadline ticked down yesterday, I decided to check out the Sixers salary cap situation. In part I was motivated by the rumors that the Sixers are considering buying out Jason Kapono's contract. I had to see what a perpetual DNP-CD was worth these days.
According to the hoopshype.com Sixers salary page, Kapono is making $6,641,440.00. As if learning that wasn't mind-blowing enough, I then saw that Darius Songalia is making $4,818,000.00.
Let's do the math.

The Kapono/Songalia duo is making $11,459,440.00 (yes, the commas are in the right place). They've combined to score 30 points this season. That works out to $381,981.33/per point. Capitalism is good, no?
If that didn't make you sick, maybe this will...Shawn Bradley made close to $70 million over his career. At 7'6" that's $777,777.778/per inch.
