Lightning Can't Strike Four Times: Flyers Try to Prevent Season Sweep in Tampa

Despite being one of the best teams in all of hockey this season, the Flyers have yet to find a way to solve the Tampa Bay Lightning who have defeated the orange and black in all three previous meetings. Peter Laviolette's squad will look to newly acquired forward Kris Versteeg to add an instant spark against the club they couldn't solve.

Everybody and their sister has been talking about what a great fit Versteeg will be on a line with Mike Richards, but Lavvy hasn't committed to that just yet. Should be interesting to see how they pair up tonight.

“He can kill penalties, he can play on the power play, play with yourtop line or checking line,” Laviolette said. “He’s done a little bit ofeverything. We’re not really comprised of a first line. We’re built bynumbers. I really think he can come in and provide more depth.

“Whether he plays with [Claude] Giroux or plays with Richards', I’m not sure – we won’t do anything with Briere’s line. It’s more … he’s an addition to that skill up front.”

As for Tampa, they've continued to play great hockey, winners of eight of their last ten, good for second in the East behind you're very own Flyers.

Dwayne Roloson, who shut the Flyers out in their last meeting, and Boosh are expected in net.

After pulling off the move to really load up to win now, this game against a Tampa team that has had the Flyers number this season should be a big test and a win could give them a big boost. As if they really need it.

7:30 start from Tampa. The game tonight has been moved from TCN to CSN, so you'll get the pretty HD.
