Matt Gudzak, Villanova fall to Towson on late TD

TOWSON, Md. -- Romell Haley returned an interception 86 yards for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter, and Towson made the most of its limited time of possession in a 28-21 win over Villanova on Saturday.

Trailing 21-14 with less than five minutes left, Villanova faced fourth-and-9 at Towson's 23. Zack Bednarczyk, who was 12 of 12 in the Wildcats' win over Albany last week, was intercepted by Haley for Towson's second pick-6. Chris Tedder victimized Bednarczyk earlier with an interception and 34-yard return.

Towson (4-3, 2-2 Colonial Athletic Association) possessed the ball for just over 24 minutes and ran 37 fewer plays than Villanova. Connor Frazier tossed a 17-yard touchdown pass to Brian Dowling and rushed for a 78-yard score, both in the first quarter. He finished 11 of 18 for 128 yards.

Bednarczyk was 21 of 40 for 245 yards and two touchdowns for Villanova (3-4, 2-2). Matt Gudzak had 96 yards rushing and a TD.
