Old Time Philadelphia Photos from Life Magazine Hosted by Google

That right there is the immortal Connie Mack and his Philadelphia Athletics in 1947 when they played Joe Di Maggio and the New York Yankees as photographed by LIFE Magazine. Google has taken images from LIFE that were previously not available and put them online for the public to see. Many of them for the first time ever.

From Google's official blog:

We're excited to announce the availability of never-before-seen images
from the LIFE photo archive. This effort to bring offline images online
was inspired by our mission to organize all the world's information and
make it universally accessible and useful. This collection of newly-digitized images includes photos and etchings produced and owned by LIFE dating all the way back to the 1750s.

There's quite a bit of photos tagged with "Philadelphia."

There appear to be a good deal of Phillies shots from what looks like 1950 spring training. Some of my favorites include this shot of Richie Ashburn sliding into second (another Ashburn) and this shot of Rocky Marciano. (another)

Search around the archives here and share the great photos you find in the comments. You know, like the Philadelphia Phillies fishing in 1950.

High society in Philadelphia was so much cooler back in the day.
