STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Penn State athletic director Tim Curley says he hopes to get a new men's basketball coach "very soon."

Curley gave a statement Tuesday through a team spokesman to update fans on the search for a replacement for Ed DeChellis. He stepped down last week to take the same job at Navy.

Curley said the job has attracted strong interest from around the country, and that the school plans to move aggressively on the hire.

Spokesman Brian Siegrist didn't offer a specific timeline or potential candidates.

A person with knowledge of the situation told the AP on Monday that Duquesne coach Ron Everhart would be interviewed Tuesday at an undisclosed location.

Siegrist said Curley was out of the office all day Tuesday, but declined comment on the report.
