Police Athletic League of Philadelphia hosting virtual fundraiser with cool sports prizes

The Police of Athletic League of Philadelphia can’t have its annual PAL Award Dinner this year, so it's going virtual.

Aside from presenting the PAL Award — this year’s honorees are Bernie Prazenica (president and GM of 6ABC), Verizon and WSFS — the annual dinner is the largest fundraiser of the year, bringing in 35 percent of the funding needed to operate 20 PAL centers in Philadelphia.

Those PAL centers support 7,000 kids every year, the money going to ensure enough officers are available to run the centers and making sure the centers have the space, equipment and supplies necessary.

The online auction is already live and goes through the event on May 15.

And there are some pretty cool sports-related items to bid on!

• You can bid to talk sports with NBC Sports Philadelphia’s John Clark or former Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski.

• You can have your voicemail message recorded by Marc Zumoff or Dan Baker.

• You can go golfing with longtime college coach Fran Dunphy at Rolling Green Golf Club.

• Or you can bid on items like an autographed Travis Konecny Flyers jersey, a Lane Johnson autographed jersey, a Joel Embiid signed basketball and a Didi Gregorius signed bat.

Or you can also simply make a donation or become a sponsor for a local child. According to the release, it costs around $435 per child per year.
