Ready for the Weekend: Jrue Helps Kick Off All-Star Weekend in Rookie-Soph Game

Share

Ah, All-Star Weekend--no better time to be an NBA fan. It's even better when your home team is in some part represented, something Sixers fans missed out on entirely last year (minus Iverson as an absentee fan-vote starter for the East) but will at least get a taste of tonight, as second-year point guard Jrue Holiday suits up for the latter squad of the Rookie-Sophomore game. The Damaja is the only Sixer involved in this ASW, but real fans know that the Rookie-Soph game is the true main event of the weekend anyway, so it'll be nice to be able to root on our guy for that, like we may have for Thaddeus Young and Andre Iguodala in years past.

Of course as long as you're around and craving some exhibition hoops action, you may as well stop in for the always-entertaining Celebrity All-Star (All-Star Celebrity) game as well. Jimmy Kimmel and Bill Simmons will be coaching charges that include ex-pros Scottie Pippen and Bill Walton, TV stars Michael Rapaport and Jason Alexander, and of course, a pint-sized Canadian senstaion named Justin Bieber, whose involvement may make this the highest (only?) rated Celebrity All-Star (All-Star Celebrity) game in NBA history. Miss it at your own peril.

Andust to whet your appetite for the proceedings at large, here's some video footage from the Sixers' twitter feed of Jrue warming up before the game. Expect a healthy slice of that silky-smooth play to vex the rookie squad into submission later tonight.
