Sportsnet.ca is reporting that the Flyers and Jeff Carter have agreed on a 3-year deal believed to be worth at least $15 million. The Flyers' own Web site and Philly.com have not posted on it yet, so we're holding out awhile longer before calling it official. It sounds about right though, and both sides have indicated that the signing was almost a foregone conclusion since before the season even ended.
On the heels of this news, the Columbus Dispatch's Blue Jackets blog shares that
Rumors are spreading in Ottawa that Umberger, who attended Ohio State,
could be headed to the Blue Jackets at some point this weekend. No word
on what the Blue Jackets would be trading to Philly.

There's not much meat to the Umberger story yet, just some rumors, but it's definitely not something out of the question, and rumors in the NHL off-season usually aren't as far-fetched as they are in say, the NFL's.
