Cliff Lee had one of those strange nights
where he was pretty sharp but not real good. Or something. Lee notched
12 strikeouts in 7 innings but also allowed 4 runs. With the Phillies
managing only three hits on the night against Ian Kennedy, their
five-game wining streak came to an end. But hey, Mike Stutes, I guess,
right? Kid pitched a scoreless 1-2-3 eighth in his MLB debut.
As for the bats? Phillies not named Placido Polanco totaled a
whopping one hit -- that off the bat of Jimmy Rollins. As Charlie Manuel
said after the game, if you don't score, you can't win.
The photos say it all.
