Villanova freshman forward Tim Delaney will undergo hip surgery next week to repair a torn labrum in his left hip, the school announced Friday.
There is no current timeline for his return.
“I’m disappointed for Tim,” Wildcats head coach Jay Wright said in a statement. “Tim had a great summer and preseason. He’s a very coachable young man and was picking up everything we do. The good news is that the doctors tell us this is an injury that can be fixed and we know Tim will be fully committed to his rehab.”
Delaney (6-8, 220) chose Villanova over La Salle and Saint Joseph's. Hailing from Mullica Hill, New Jersey, Delaney was ranked by ESPN as the seventh-best college recruit in the state last year.
The Wildcats will hold the Blue and White Scrimmage at the Pavilion on Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. Admission is free.
