Villanova's Bell named to USA Men's U19 team

Villanova's James Bell was named to the 2011 USA Basketball U19 World Championship team, which was announced Thursday.

Jeremy Lamb of national champion Connecticut and Khyle Marshall of runner-up Butler are also on the 12-man roster that will defend the gold medal in the FIBA U19 World Championship in Latvia from June 30-July 10.

Others announced Thursday were Keith Appling, Michigan State; Anthony Brown, Stanford; Tim Hardaway Jr., Michigan; Joe Jackson, Memphis; Meyers Leonard, Illinois; Doug McDermott, Creighton; Tony Mitchell, North Texas; Patric Young, Florida and Jahii Carson, Mesa High School.

Carson, who has signed to play at Arizona State, is the only high school player on the roster.

The team will be coached by Paul Hewitt of George Mason.
