Former Villanova basketball player and assistant coach Doug West has rejoined the Wildcats as an assistant coach. He previous served as an assistant from 2007-2010 before leaving to pursue a business opportunity.

West played 12 seasons in NBA, the first nine with Minnesota. He retired in 2001 after three seasons with Vancouver. West is fifth on Villanova's all-time scoring list with 2,037 points.

"We're delighted to welcome Doug back to the staff," Villanova head coach Jay Wright said in a statement released by the school. "As a longtime NBA player he brings a unique perspective to our staff and his dedication to the development of our young men makes him a great asset as a coach."

Villanova also has named Keith Urgo director of basketball operations. Urgo has been with Villanova since 2007.

"We're really excited about the chemistry of this staff," said Wright. "They each have deep Villanova basketball ties and a great commitment to the mission of our university."
