2020 NFL odds: Eagles picking Jalen Hurts was beyond a longshot

Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss said it best, “Straight cash homie!”

Somewhere... someone is laughing all the way to the bank tonight. And unfortunately it’s not me.

Heading into Day 2 of the NFL Draft, linebacker was a +150 ($100 bet pays $150) favorite to be the position of the next drafted player by the Eagles, per FanDuel Sportsbook. Cornerback and safety followed right behind at +280. All 3 positions seemed like safe bets representing positions of need for the Eagles. Quarterback was the longest shot on the board at +5500 ($100 bet pays $5500). No chance that happens, right?

Well, if you were caught off guard by the Eagles pick of Jalen Reagor Thursday night in the first round, I can’t imagine what you think of Eagles GM Howie Roseman selecting Oklahoma quarterback Jalen Hurts with the team’s first pick on day 2 (2nd round, 53rd overall). Heck, your $10 lunch money would put $550 in your pockets. Not a bad lunch break, that is if we were actually taking lunch breaks during these unprecedented times.
