NFL Network’s fantastic series "A Football Life" will feature the most beloved athlete in Eagles history in an episode debuting Friday night at 8 p.m.
"Brian Dawkins: A Football Life" will cover many aspects of B-Dawk’s 13-year career with the Eagles, his Weapon X alter-ego, his battle with depression, his relationship with Jim Johnson, and the strange day when he came back to the Linc to play a game as a member of the Denver Broncos.
NFL Network actually shared a teaser clip of that day, which you can watch below.
Dawkins says it was the only time in his career that he didn’t come out for warmups because he was so emotional.
“I couldn’t stop crying,” he said.
Eagles owner Jeff Lurie was pained by the sight.

“It’s a shame because I would have loved Brian to play every single year with us," Lurie said of Dawkins. "He’s probably my all-time favorite player and I think our fanbase’s all-time favorite player.”
The show will also cover Dawkins’ enshrinement this past summer into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and will include interviews with his family as well as some of the biggest names in the Eagles organization: Lurie, Andy Reid, Joe Banner, Jon Gruden, Sean McDermott, Jeremiah Trotter, Troy Vincent, among others.
I’m most interested in hearing from Dawk himself, particularly about his alter-ego on the football field.
“I was putting on a mask every day,” Dawkins said. “I know what that dark place feels like. If you’ve never gone through depression and if you’ve never truly had those thoughts, it sounds like a fairytale, it sounds like hubbub. But it’s not. It’s real.”
