As new Eagles quarterback Chase Daniel arrived in Philadelphia late last night, CSN's John Clark was there to greet him.
And shortly after agreeing to a three-year deal worth $21 million, with $12 million guaranteed, Daniel was excited about the chance to work with Doug Pederson again. (The Eagles' head coach was Daniel's offensive coordinator for the last three seasons in Kansas City.)
"I think it was a good fit from the start," Daniel said. "You know, I've spent the past three years with him, so I'm just excited for him to get his shot and it's sort of a dream come true to come back up here, reunite with him and help the Philadelphia Eagles win a Super Bowl."
Daniel, 29, mentioned his time game-planning with Pederson during their time together in Kansas City, and said he knows what "makes him tick."
While Daniel will be very well-paid as a backup quarterback on a deal that's worth $7 million per year, if he ends up becoming a high-level starter, his incentive-laden deal could end up being worth up to $36 million (see story).
The contract kind of meshes with an NFL Network report that the Eagles are going to give Daniel a chance to compete with Sam Bradford — whom the team signed to a two-year, $36 million deal — for the starting job.
Clark asked Daniel if the team told him he'll have a chance to compete to be the starter, but the quarterback didn't bite.

"What my job is, is just to purely come in and try to make the Philadelphia Eagles a better football team," Daniel said. "And so, that's exactly what I'm gonna do. We're excited to get started."
