Following Thursday’s practice at the NovaCare Complex, DeMarco Murray said he felt better than he has “the last couple of days.” But the Eagles' running back, who practiced fully, also said he won’t decide whether to play against Washington until Sunday.
When one reporter asked Murray whether he would play if the game were today, Murray said he’s fortunate that the game isn’t until Sunday and he has “a couple more days” to make the call. Pressed further, Murray replied: “The game is Sunday. It’s not tomorrow. The game is Sunday.”
Murray missed last week’s game against the Jets with a hamstring injury. He said he was close to playing, but decided against it in warmups.
“I felt that it definitely wasn’t quite right,” Murray said. "I didn’t want to do anything to set myself back or hurt the team and kind of be selfish and go out there and not be myself. Ryan (Mathews) and (Darren) Sproles definitely took care of the load. I felt that they were better to do that job last week than I was.”
Mathews rushed for 108 yards on 25 carries against the Jets. He also caught two passes for 20 yards and a touchdown. Sproles had 36 yards and a touchdown on 15 total touches. He also returned a punt for a touchdown.
In two games this season, Murray has 21 carries for 11 rushing yards and a touchdown. He’s also caught nine passes for 64 yards and a touchdown.

“I’ve had [a hamstring injury] before,” Murray said. “It’s been years. Hamstrings are a little tricky. You have to make sure you’re smart with it and you don’t do things to set you back to square one. You have to be smart with them and listen to your body.”
Weather permitting, the Eagles are scheduled to play at Washington on Sunday at 1 pm.
