Eagles at Jaguars live: Score, highlights, analysis from NFL Week 8 game

Share

12:27 p.m.: The Eagles finally got a stop and the offense was able to get a couple first downs to run out the clock as the Eagles get a big win to head into their bye week at 4-4. That sounds a lot better than 3-5, doesn’t it?

Final: Eagles 24, Jaguars 18

12:20 p.m.: The Eagles couldn’t get a stop on the first fourth-down they faced in the fourth quarter, but get a stop on the second. The offense gets the ball back with 3:36 left in this game. It’s 24-18

12:07 p.m.: The Eagles gave up a bunch of yards, but held in the red zone thanks to a dropped pass from D.J. Chark. The Jaguars settled for a field goal. There’s 6:57 left.

Eagles 24, Jaguars 18

11:57 a.m.: The Eagles finally answer back. Carson Wentz led them on a six-play, 75-yard drive. Zach Ertz caught a five-yard touchdown. He has three in his last four games. The big play came on a 36-yard pass from Wentz to Jordan Matthews, who has 80 yards for the first time since November 2016.

Eagles 24, Jaguars 15

11:48 a.m.: Malcolm Jenkins might have saved the game with a diving pass breakup in the end zone. The Jaguars had to settle for a field goal, but the Eagles have now given up points on two consecutive drives after the Eagles’ 95-yard touchdown drive. There’s 13:10 left in the game.

Eagles 17, Jaguars 15

11:40 a.m.: The Eagles are clinging to a five-point lead but the Jaguars are driving. They have the ball in Eagles territory after converting a 3rd-and-7.

After 3: Eagles 17, Jaguars 12

11:29 a.m.: For the second straight week, the Eagles’ defense watched Carson Wentz and the offense score on a 90-plus yard drive and then let up a touchdown on the ensuing possession. This time, The Jaguars went 75 yards on nine plays and Blake Bortles hit Dede Westbrook in the end zone to cut it to a one-score game. The two-point conversion failed.

Eagles 17, Jaguars 12

11:19 a.m.: The Eagles finished off a 95-yard drive with a 36-yard screen pass to Wendell Smallwood. The play was run brilliantly and Shelton Gibson provided a great block to let Smallwood into the end zone. The 95-yard drie is the Eagles' second-longest of the season.

Eagles 17, Jaguars 3

11:03 a.m.: Jason Peters doesn’t have a concussion, so he’ll return. But Lane Johnson (knee) has been ruled out. Jalen Mills (foot) is also questionable to return.

10:47 a.m.: That’s exactly what the Eagles needed. After Maddox forced that fumble, the Eagles took over and finally scored a touchdown. Carson Wentz threw a beautiful ball across his body to Dallas Goedert, who ran the rest of the way in for his third touchdown of the season. Josh Perkins has a huge block on the play to give Wentz time to throw. Earlier on the drive, Wentz converted a first down with his legs to keep the Eagles moving.

At halftime, the Eagles have out-gained the Jaguars 217-90. They finally got a touchdown.

Eagles 10, Jaguars 3

10:39 a.m.: The Eagles have life! The first half is winding down but they have the ball back at the Jaguars 44-yard line after Avonte Maddox forced a fumble. He knocked the ball out of Keelan Cole’s hands and Malcolm Jenkins recovered. That’s the second big play from Maddox today. Earlier he had a 3rd-and-1 stuff on a run play.

10:27 a.m.: Josh Lambo just hit a 57-yard field goal to give the Jaguars a lead. It’s the second-longest field goal ever against the Eagles and the longest since Matt Bryant’s 62-yarder back in 2006. The defense gave up 15 yards on 3rd-and-21 to give up the long field goal.

Jaguars 6, Eagles 3

10:17 a.m.: The Eagles finally got on the board with a 31-yard field goal from Jake Elliott, but they failed to get into the end zone after they moved the ball down the field on a 64-yard drive. There’s 7:43 left in the first half.

Eagles 3, Jaguars 3

10:04 a.m.: The last play of the first quarter was a Chris Long sack on third down that came after a blitz from Malcolm Jenkins. The Eagles are out-gaining the Jaguars 106 to 31 in the first quarter, but have turned the ball over twice.

Jaguars 3, Eagles 0

9:51 a.m.: The Jaguars strike first on a 50-yard field goal from Josh Lambo. They got the ball after Carson Wentz’s fumble and moved down the field into field goal range after a few big runs from Blake Bortles. Avonte Maddox made a huge run stop on 3rd down.

Jaguars 3, Eagles 0

9:46 a.m.: After converting a touch third-down pass to Jordan Matthews, Wentz was hit in the pocket and fumbled. He’s had a problem with holding the ball and fumbling it away this season.

Jaguars ball. And to make matters worse, Lane Johnson got hurt on the pay. He’s been dealing with a high ankle sprain.

9:43 a.m.: Carson Wentz completed a pass to Carson Wentz. Really. It’s his second career reception. He had a seven-yarder his rookie season.

9:26 a.m.: The Eagles are about to play a game overseas.

Their goal: Make London fall in love with them. OK.

9:05 a.m.: We’re getting close to kickoff and it’s apparently looking like an Eagles home game in Wembley Stadium.

8:13 a.m.: Here are the Eagles’ inactive players for today’s game.

Nate Gerry (ankle, knee)
Darren Sproles (hamstring)
Sidney Jones (hamstring)
Corey Graham (hamstring)
Matt Pryor
Jordan Mailata
Nate Sudfeld

That means Haloti Ngata (calf), who has missed the last three games, is back.

7:37 a.m.: After some phony photo made its way around the internet last night claiming the Eagles were going to wear black pants, the Eagles say they're wearing all white in London.

7:23 a.m.: G’morning, mates. I’m back in South Philly today, but we’ll be keeping an eye on everything that happens at Wembley Stadium today.

Expect to see a lot of Eagles fans in the crowd in London.

6:10 a.m.: It looks like Haloti Ngata will make his return after missing three games. He is still officially listed as questionable.

10:23 p.m.: At least the Eagles aren’t out getting arrested in London. The Jaguars haven’t been able to stay out of trouble. According to a report, four players were arrested in a London nightclub at 4 a.m. on Saturday morning (see story). Yikes.

The Jaguars say they are aware of the incident and will punish their players internally.

6:05 p.m.: It’s the night before the game and it’s already past midnight in London. The Eagles will be up in the morning before playing the Jaguars at 9:30 a.m. EST on Sunday. It’s a huge matchup between two 3-4 teams, but it’s hard to not get caught up in the cool atmosphere.

Expect to hear a lot of Eagles fans at Wembley Stadium tomorrow. They’re definitely in London. See you guys in the morning.
