The NFL's new league year has begun, and now the deals that have been reported over the past few days can be officially announced (and now the Eagles have announced them all).
In all, the Eagles somehow subtracted three misfits and added a backup quarterback, guard, safety, linebacker and two cornerbacks. That's six new players, including three former Buffalo Bills.
And you thought after last year's debacle the Eagles might have a quiet first day of free agency. No reason to worry. They took a different tactic this time, as explained by former Eagles executive Joe Banner, who approves of his protégé's moves.
Here's a recap of the Eagles' busy first day of the free-agent signing period:
1. The Maxwell-Alonso trade
Phew, after reports came out Wednesday morning that the deal might fall through, this trade was completed.
The Eagles sent disappointing Chip Kelly acquisitions Byron Maxwell and Kiko Alonso to the Miami Dolphins along with the 13th overall pick in this year's draft and receive the eighth overall pick.

Here are some possibilities for the Eagles at No. 8. (Know who picks seventh? The 49ers.) And here's a look at the Eagles' history of drafting in the top 10.
2. The DeMarco Murray trade
In another addition by subtraction move, the Eagles disposed of another of Chip Kelly's prized acquisitions, sending Murray to the Tennessee Titans for another pick swap.
This time, the Eagles will move up in the fourth round, but until the NFL awards compensatory picks, the actual pick numbers have not been determined.
Seem like meager compensation for a guy one year removed from a historic, rushing-title winning season?
Murray all but erased that accomplishment last season, looking every bit like the worn down back critics of the signing expected. Murray rushed for 1,143 yards less than he did in 2014, a record decline for a rushing champ the season after he won the title (per ESPNStatsInfo).
3. Signing quarterback Chase Daniel
The Eagles opened the first day of the new league year by adding a new backup QB. Daniel agreed to an incentive-laden three-year, $21 million deal, $12 million of which is guaranteed (details here).
So long Mark Sanchez.
As for the rumblings that Daniel has a chance to start, there's no reason to make a big deal about that. No coach is going lure a free-agent QB by telling him otherwise, unless the incumbent starter is a future Hall of Famer.
4. Signing safety Rodney McLeod
One day after signing cornerback Leodis McKelvin, who had been cut by Buffalo (and unwittingly took a shot at Chip Kelly), the Eagles bolster their needy secondary by adding the highly-touted McLeod for $35 million over five years.
But before you say, 'Wow, that's a lot' … read Reuben Frank's breakdown of the contract, a typical Howie Roseman cap-friendly deal. It's essentially a two-year, $13 million deal and counts only $2.6 million against this year's cap.
Kulp grades the McLeod signing (and here's Leodis McKelvin).
5. Signing guard Brandon Brooks
Then the Eagles finally addressed their biggest weakness of 2015: the offensive line.
After releasing Evan Mathis and Todd Herremans last year, the Eagles inexplicably made no move to replace them.
The 6-foot-5, 345-pound Brooks agreed to a five-year, $40 million deal (details here).
Brooks spent the last four seasons with the Texans, who drafted him out of Miami (Ohio) in the third round of the 2012 draft.
6. Signing linebacker Nigel Bradham
With DeMeco Ryans and Kiko Alonso gone, the Eagles' new linebacking corps will consist of Mychal Kendricks, Jordan Hicks and now Bradham, who agreed to two-year deal and likely will play one of the outside spots and allow Connor Barwin to move to DE in Jim Schwartz's 4-3.
Once again, the Eagles sign an ascending free agent, and another one who has played in Schwartz's system in Buffalo. Bradham spent his first four seasons with the Bills, who selected him out of Florida State in the fourth round of the 2012 draft.
After piling up 104 tackles (according to the team's site) in 14 games two seasons ago, the 6-2, 241-pound Bradham had only 59 last season in Rex Ryan's mercurial defense.
7. Signing cornerback Ron Brooks
The third former Bills defender to join the Eagles this week, the 27-year-old Brooks signed a three-year deal (details here).
Selected by Buffalo in the fourth round of the 2012 draft, the LSU product has been a backup corner (started three of 41 games) and contributor on special teams.
