Last team: Tennessee Titans
Scouting report
Picked 16th overall in 2010, just four spots behind Brandon Graham, Morgan hasn’t quite fulfilled his first-round billing. He totaled just four sacks in his first two seasons but bounced back to record 19 sacks over his last three seasons. He’s never had more than 6.5 sacks in any season. He has started 56 of his 66 career games and has four career forced fumbles. Last year, he made $1.83 million in base salary and workout bonus.
Geoff’s take
Don’t like him one bit. Whereas Brandon Graham has become a late bloomer and showed major upside for the past two years, the same can’t be said for his draft classmate. Morgan’s 6½ sacks a year over the past three years makes me yawn. He’s an average pass rusher, and that’s the last thing the Eagles need at outside linebacker after losing Trent Cole and Graham. I suppose he’d make a good backup — if the Coatesville native was willing to come home and come off the bench, but I doubt that’s the direction he’s headed in and I doubt the Eagles are interested.
Roob’s take
I’m with Mosh on Morgan. There’s nothing special about his game. Nothing that stands out. He’s an adequate pass rusher, but the Eagles need more than adequate. They have the money to sign a far more accomplished and far more feared outside pass rusher, so there’s no reason to bring in a guy who’s never even had seven sacks in a season. They can do better.
