George Iloka, S
Age: 25
Height: 6-4
Weight: 225
Last team: Cincinnati Bengals
Scouting report
What jumps out about Iloka initially is his size, but don't let that fool you. He has great range and is excellent in coverage. He was a fifth-round pick by the Bengals out of Boise State in 2012. His career numbers don't stand out (181 tackles, four interceptions in 51 games), but his versatility is impressive. He's physical enough and obviously big enough to play near the line of scrimmage, but is rarely beaten deep.
My take
The size alone makes Iloka intriguing. We profiled the other half of the Bengals' safety tandem, Reggie Nelson, on Wednesday. Nelson's league-leading eight interceptions somewhat overshadowed what Iloka brought to Cincinnati's defense. Iloka is younger (he'll turn 26 at the end of the month), more physically gifted and versatile than Nelson.
He'd be a great fit next to Malcolm Jenkins. He can play in the box but also take some of the pressure off Jenkins in coverage. Given the choice, the Bengals may prefer to keep him over Nelson. And he'll have plenty of suitors like his former defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, who is now the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. Iloka may just be scratching the surface of his ability. If Howie Roseman can make the numbers work, Iloka would be a great get. Considering how young he is and what the Eagles' cap situation looks like, Roseman would have to get creative.
