Eagles reach one-year deal with receiver Chris Givens

Chris Givens isn't leaving Philadelphia without a contract.

The veteran receiver visited the Eagles on Wednesday and signed on a one-year deal. Givens also recently visited with the Jets.

Givens' base salary for 2016 is $760,000, with $100,000 guaranteed. His cap hit in 2016 is $840,000.

While Givens (6-0, 203 pounds) has just 31 catches in the last two years, he had his highest level of success in the NFL with Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford in St. Louis.

The two will reunite in Philly.

Of Givens' 107 career catches, 60 have come from Bradford. Those 60 catches have gone for 993 yards and three touchdowns. His best season came in 2012 as a rookie, when he caught 42 passes for 698 yards and three touchdowns. In that season, Bradford played all 16 games.

Givens was drafted by the Rams in 2012 out of Wake Forest and spent his entire NFL career in St. Louis before being traded to the Ravens for a seventh-round pick in October.

No, the 26-year-old receiver isn't a big name, but he's just the third offensive player the Eagles have added this offseason after Chase Daniel and Brandon Brooks.

Givens joins a talented young receiving corps that includes Jordan Matthews, Josh Huff and Nelson Agholor. That trio hasn't produced much in the NFL, but the Eagles want to let them develop (see story).

The Eagles are hoping Givens can add to that.
