As Eagles fans eagerly await news that their favorite team added a big-name player before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. trade deadline, this move won’t exactly get many people excited.
The Eagles on Monday afternoon signed tight end Scott Orndoff — not to be confused with Paul Orndorff, the former WWF wrestler, Mr. Wonderful — to their practice squad.
Orndoff, 25, went undrafted in 2017 out of Pittsburgh and has bounced around on a few NFL teams but has never made a roster or played in an NFL game. Most recently, he spent a month this summer during training camp with the Buccaneers. He has also been with the Steelers, Lions, Bengals, Jaguars and the Orlando Apollos of the now-defunct AAF.
Orndoff was also just drafted by the XFL’s Los Angeles Wildcats, but now he’s back on an NFL practice squad.
With the move to sign Orndoff, the Eagles’ practice squad is now full at 10 members. DT Bruce Hector was promoted to the active roster on Friday, so there had been one open spot.
Here’s the current practice squad:
WR Robert Davis
WR Marcus Green
CB Ajene Harris
RB De’Angelo Henderson Sr.
QB Kyle Lauletta
OG Sua Opeta
TE Scott Orndoff
TE Josh Perkins
C Keegan Render
WR Greg Ward

The addition of Orndoff to the practice squad is interesting because the Eagles have just two tight ends on their roster right now. Earlier in the season, Alex Ellis bounced around from practice squad to active roster, but got hurt and is no longer with the team.
With how much the Eagles have been using 12 personnel (two tight ends), it has been a little risky just keeping two tight ends on the roster. And they haven’t seemed eager to promote Perkins this season. They’ll get a closer look at Orndoff and maybe they’ll eventually add a third tight end to their 53-man roster.
